Have you ever gotten to the point where nothing you say seems to help anymore?

  • Parents are cynical and resistant no matter what advice or tools you offer.
  • You start to wonder if you want change more than they do.
  • They’re laser-focused on “fixing” their child, and completely miss their own need for healing.
  • You know they’re burned out or in blocked care but you're losing your capacity for compassion, too.

You are not alone. You are not bad at your job.
You simply need better tools and a different kind of support.

Trusted by Parents. Respected by Professionals. Grounded in Science.

Hi, I’m Melissa Corkum. I’m a TEDx speaker, author of Reclaim Compassion, and a leading expert in research-backed strategies for overcoming blocked care.

I’m a certified Safe & Sound Protocol and Rest & Restore Protocol practitioner and use polyvagal-informed methods to help parents move from burnout and apathy to empathy and joy. Over the past decade, I’ve helped hundreds of families and professionals understand why some parents feel stuck even when they seem to be doing everything "right."

As a parent to six children through birth and adoption, I bring both personal and professional experience to this work. If you’re ready for fresh tools that create real change, I’d love for you to join me.

We Don’t Just Train You...We Walk With You

This isn’t another self-paced course you’ll forget by next month. It’s an immersive, mentored experience designed to support your nervous system as much as your skillset. You’ll be part of a community that learns, practices, reflects, and grows together.

All the details:

  • Applications due Friday, August 29.
  • Interviews conducted week of September 1.
  • Kickoff party and orientation on Wednesday, September 17.
  • Monthly group calls. Live teaching and interactive experiences so you can integrate the material, explore your own nervous system, and create synergy with fellow students.
  • Private Slack community. Your space to connect between calls, submit assignments, ask questions, share wins, and feel supported through the process.
  • Regulation Huddles. Groups of 3 to 4 students who meet between group calls for co-regulation, integration, and accountability because everything is better with friends! Joining a Regulation Huddle is optional but highly encouraged.
  • Required text. Every Parent’s Guide to Reclaiming Compassion: A Neuroscience Approach to Overcoming Blocked Care.
  • Tuition. $4500 Intro rate for Fall 2025 cohort - $3150. Charged as $350/month (September 2025 to  May 2026).

Professional Certification Track

Get fully equipped to guide parents out of blocked care with confidence and clarity.

In addition to the meetings and assignments, you’ll complete a practicum by guiding a parent or small group through the framework. This hands-on experience helps you integrate what you’ve learned and build confidence using the tools in real-life situations.

Certification Fee - $750 Introductory rate for Fall 2025 Cohort - $500

Fee is in addition to tuition and includes practicum oversight, certification credential, and your first year's membership in the Blocked Care Network to help you grow your impact and visibility.

Parent and Caregiver Track

This track is designed for parents and caregivers who are natural leaders in their communities.

Maybe you’re running a support group, mentoring other families, or simply the one others turn to for guidance.

You’ll receive the same training and tools as the certification track, without the practicum or professional credentialing. It’s perfect if you want to grow your confidence, deepen your understanding of blocked care, and support others more effectively.

A certificate of completion will be provided to all who meet the requirements.

Why the World Needs More Blocked Care-Informed Practitioners

These are real words from parents. Most had never heard of blocked care until they stumbled upon it themselves. Imagine how things could have been different if the professionals supporting them had known what to look for and how to help.

The Impact You Can Make

Here is what parents who have used our framework personally or to lead groups have told us.

The need is real.
The pain is real.
You can be part of the solution.
